About These Bugs

These are bugs and glitches which minimally impact gameplay, but can stand out nevertheless when you notice them.

These often take much more work than is worth it to fix, or the cause is unclear, or fixing them is currently impossible.

Challenge Mode Level Bug

Severity: Medium

Location: Almost everywhere!

Cause: GameFreak spaghetti code

Description:

This bug affects level scaling in Challenge Mode across the game.

Full Details

Search for "Challenge Mode Level Bug - Important info for Challenge Runs!" in the Trainer Changes document for a complete description of the bug.

Disappearing Sprites

Severity: Low

Location: Any PC

Cause: Unknown

Description:

All Pokémon box sprites have been updated to the superior Gen VI counterparts. However, they may vanish when you attempt to Deposit or Withdraw Pokémon from the PC.

Impact:

  • Happens semi-randomly
  • Completely harmless
  • Sprites reappear after exiting and re-accessing the PC

Minor Fossil Issues

Severity: Low

Location: Desert Resort (Relic Castle)

Cause: Known

Description:

When taking multiple Fossils to the woman in the Relic Castle, there's a minor visual bug when you select which fossils you'd like to revive.

Impact:

  • This is purely visual and can safely be ignored
  • Functions correctly despite the visual glitch

Technical Details:

The bug arises because the game expects the woman to be in the museum, but she isn't. Since the script is called from and shared with elsewhere in the game, it's unlikely this can be fixed.

Stone Animations

Severity: Very Low

Location: Dragonspiral Tower

Cause: Known (Version exclusive content)

Description:

The animation for the Black/White stone absorbing energy is version exclusive. Thus, when you encounter Reshiram (Blaze Black 2 Redux) or Zekrom (Volt White 2 Redux), the animation doesn't play.

Impact:

  • You still see the cool 3D cutscene though!
  • Does not affect gameplay

Infestation Text

Severity: Very Low

Location: Any battle featuring the move 'Infestation'

Cause: Known

Description:

When a Pokémon suffers residual damage from Infestation, the game states that "The Pokémon was hurt by '----'!" instead of showing the move name.

Impact:

  • This issue isn't solvable
  • Only cosmetic
  • Won't have any adverse effect on your playthrough
